About Yeti Tours

When you are isolated in the wilderness you want to be reassured you are in experienced hands. Yeti Tours has a 25-year history of canoe tours on the Whanganui River, being one of the first to offer clients guided trips on this remarkable waterway.

You will en joy Yeti Tours attention to detail, and success in achieving a professional client focused adventure experience. Yeti Tours is a leading operator on the Whanganui River.

Over the last 20 years, and since the creation of the Whanganui National Park in 1987, there have been many changes to the facilities available to canoeists paddling the river. However, at Yeti Tours, we still have the same philosophy of providing our clients with a never to be forgotten wilderness experience.

'I would also like to thank you and your team for such a fantastic trip. I was impressed with all of the guides.'

'I undertook with two others, (Nick Thornton and Rick Williams) the four day unguided trip down the Whanganui River starting Monday 18 Feb and finishing 21 Feb just passed. While “unguided” our party was “kept an eye on” by Kelly Smith. (I am sure of the first name and think Smith is the surname). Kelly was a totally professional and proficient supporter to the party (Keith and Evie) she was primarily guiding. We watched with growing admiration the way this young woman provided both physical and mental succour to her party. She also found time, and undoubtedly the need was there, to provide advice and “rescue” my party more than once. We kind of attached ourselves to the wake of Kelly’s canoe. She provided much needed advice to us and pulled us through the times when the kayak or canoe was above water and we were not. We wish you to know what a great young woman you have working for you. She showed herself to be more than competent in the role of “guide.” We three are retired officers from the New Zealand Army. A combined service of about 70 years. We are familiar with the assessment of staff. Our assessment of Kelly is that she is superior to the average in her guide role.'

'We were paddling on the Whanganui over Easter and shared the last campsite with a YetiTours group. They were brilliant, even to us! They gave us their leftover food (which we were very grateful for as we'd all but run out!)which was gorgeous tasty food! and made us welcome round their campfire, and gave us info about what to see the last day (the mud-cave!! Thanks guys!) And all this after they'd borne the brunt of my poor paddling technique the day before (collisions aplenty!) and gently given me helpful hints! Special thanks to Kelly, and the 2 guys with her. You were fantastic.'

'As I say, an absolutely wonderful experience and I couldn't be a bigger advocate for the work that you, or your guides, are doing.'
