Are you the outdoors type who likes to do things yourself ? Do you want the freedom to go at your pace? Do you need equipment?

Yeti Tours has a large up-to-date fleet of boats available to those wishing to do their own thing. All our equipment is of modern design and chosen for its comfort, stability and suitability for the task.

Tents are also available for hire. Our tents are modern double skinned hoop tents with sewn in floor and insect screen.

Canoe and kayak hire

Equipment Each canoe comes complete with paddles, buoyancy vests and Waterproof storage barrels. Each kayak comes complete with paddle, buoyancy vest, spray deck and "Cascade" dry bags. (Note this hire is not available below Whakahoro) For safety reasons, we do not rent to solo paddlers.

Price includes transport from Ohakune to Taumarunui, Ohinepane or Whakahoro and return from Pipiriki to Ohakune. Safe vehicle storage is also included. View Whanganui River Map (Note: Cost of FUP not included).

Transport

Our transport runs on a regular schedule which allows for drop-offs And pick-ups on the same day if necessary. Our departure time from Ohakune is 7.30am and pick-up time in Pipiriki is 2.00pm.

Facility User Pass (FUP)

The is a Department of Conservation hut and campsite pass. All persons who will be camping within the National Park are required to purchase a pass. These are available from Yeti Tours.

Useful Information

YetiPointing Accommodation

Ohakune has a wide range of accommodation. We recommend you stay at Matai Lodge. Ohakune also has a good sized supermarket so you can stockup on supplies before your trip. Supermarket closes at 7pm.

Environment

Remember that while canoeing the Whanganui River, all the campsites are within the Whanganui National Park. Please carry sufficient rubbish bags with you to ensure that all refuse is removed from these campsites.

Equipment collection and Transportation

Equipment is to be collected from and returned to our depot in Ohakune. People wishing to use our transport meet in Ohakune also. Our costing allows a reasonable amount of time for loading, unloading and pre-departure instruction. As we are sometimes running to a tight schedule, waiting time for late arrivals may be charged for.

A complete list of personal equipment along with information on our meeting time and place will be sent upon receipt of your deposit of 25% of hire total.
